Jeff M. Gautney is senior vice president and chief information officer for RUSH. In this role, he focuses on infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT processes and digital innovation.

Gautney has over 35 years of experience in health care IT leadership. He joined RUSH in 2021 from the New York-based Huron Consulting Group after a decade in consulting. Gautney also served as a managing director for Deloitte Consulting’s health care providers' practice.

Prior to Huron and Deloitte, Gautney led IT operations teams for 21 years. This included time as a senior vice president and site chief information officer at Allscripts Corporation, where he was responsible for operations at the company’s largest client, Northwell Health. During his time with Northwell Health, Gautney grew the company’s IT team from 160 to over 750 individuals by improving employee retention and recruiting top talent.

Gautney also worked with clinicians and executives to design a system-wide model for transforming care during an 18-month period as the interim vice president for clinical transformation at Baylor University Medical Center.

From 1990 to 1997, Gautney was the technical secretary for the Health Level 7 IT Standards Organization. He is an active member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and has served as an adjunct professor at the Carnegie-Mellon Information Networking Institute. Gautney graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s honors program with undergraduate degrees in psychology and political science.
