Matt Walsh is executive vice president and chief operating officer at Rush University System for Health. He is responsible for operations across Rush University Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Rush Copley Medical Center, Rush Medical Group, Rush Health and corporate functions including: quality, strategy and communications, human resources, finance, digital and information systems, facilities, community health equity/DEI and the transformation office.
Walsh previously served for seven years as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Geisinger in Pennsylvania. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years with the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan in multiple leadership roles.
In his current role, Walsh brings a wealth of experience and achievements to help Rush exceed the expectations of our patients, employees and learners through healthcare innovation, transformation and operational execution.
Walsh earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and his Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. He was recently named one of Becker’s Hospital Review 2023 COOs to Know.
