Murray T. Ancell is senior vice president and chief development officer for Rush University System for Health.
Ancell joined Rush from Endeavor Health (formerly NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health) in 2022, having served as senior vice president and executive director at NorthShore Foundation. Under his leadership, NorthShore raised record-setting contributions for two consecutive years, including successful cultivation of their largest ever outright cash gift. Prior to joining NorthShore in 2007, first as a senior director in hospital operations before transferring to philanthropy, Ancell enjoyed a successful career in the private sector in Europe and the U.S.
In June 2024, Ancell led Rush into the public launch of a $750 million comprehensive campaign, the largest in the organization’s history.
Ancell has volunteered on several health-related and other committees and boards, and currently serves on the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s Journal Advisory Council. He earned a BS in zoology and physiology from the University of East Anglia, a postgraduate diploma in business administration from the University of Surrey and an MS in strategic fundraising and philanthropy from Bay Path University, where he returned to teach major gift fundraising in the Graduate School of Arts, Science and Management. He is a certified fund raising executive (CFRE) and a fellow of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP), the highest level of achievement in the field of health care resource development.
