Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital were both recently ranked among the "Most Wired" in the U.S. by Modern Healthcare magazine and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. They also were the only hospitals in Illinois to achieve Level 9 certification.
According to CHIME, hospitals earn Level 9 status by deploying advanced technologies in innovative ways across their organizations to realize “meaningful outcomes, including improved quality of care, improved patient experience, reduced costs, and broader patient access to healthcare services.”
Most Wired hospitals must also demonstrate how they drive innovation across the industry to earn Level 9 status. Significant developments contributing to this honor for Rush include:
- Implementation of 5G wireless internet on campus
- Development of the Blue Button for patient access to Medicare information
- Partnership with Apple for improved barcode scanning with care-delivery iPhones
- Robust availability of telehealth options including E-Visits and On-Demand Video
“The innovation and use of technology that we are implementing here a Rush makes our health system more efficient, more advanced and easier to use, overall leading to an enhanced patient experience that we are very proud of,” said Dr. Shafiq Rab, senior vice president and chief information officer, Rush University Medical Center and the Rush University System for Health.
Rush continues to work towards improved patient experience and industry-leading innovation with the launch of the My Rush app, door-to-doctor navigation tools and more.
The designation comes alongside Rush University Medical Center’s recent first place ranking by the health care performance improvement organization Vizient.
