RUSH is again earning accolades from Newsweek for delivering some of the highest-quality care in the nation.

Using detailed surveys of thousands of cancer care professionals — Newsweek has ranked RUSH University Medical Center one of the nation’s top cancer hospitals. Federally reported care quality metrics and patient experience surveys led the magazine to rank the medical center No. 61 out of several hundred hospitals that providing cancer care.

The RUSH SurgiCenter has been ranked No. 2 in Illinois and No. 31 in the nation for ambulatory surgery centers in the recently published America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2023. Newsweek describes the rankings as “designed to help readers make knowledgeable choices when they seek surgical care for themselves or their loved ones.” The publication worked with the research firm Statist to assess the 5,000 Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery centers around the country — ultimately selecting 510 for inclusion on the list.

Newsweek also named RUSH University Children’s Hospital to the America’s Best Children’s Hospitals 2023 list, placing it among the nation’s top 50 children’s hospitals for endocrinology at No. 41— and one of only two pediatric endocrinology programs in Illinois. Newsweek ranked children’s hospitals in seven specialty areas based on professional recommendations, patient satisfaction scores and quality care data.

Lastly, Newsweek’s America's Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 list also features RUSH among the U.S.’s top 159 hospitals. RUSH is among six maternity hospitals in Illinois to earn the five-ribbon designation. Hospitals were assessed for their quality of care from pregnancy through birth as well as postpartum, based on quality care data, patient satisfaction ratings and recommendations from health care professionals.

“These honors reflect something we get to see every day: a passionate and dedicated RUSH team that is committed to making the RUSH patient experience the best in the country,” said Paul Casey, MD, MBA, FACEP, chief medical officer of RUSH University Medical Center and the interim president for the Faculty Practice Group. “Everyone at RUSH should take pride in knowing that their incredible work is being recognized as a benchmark of quality across the nation.”
