Chief Medical Officer Honored for Digital Health Leadership

The recognition notes the creation of a unified virtual platform, updated mobile app for patients
Dr. Paul Casey

Paul Casey, MD, MBA, FACEP, senior vice president and chief medical officer, has been named a Notable Leader in Health Care Technology for 2025 by Crain’s Chicago Business.

The honor comes as Casey leads implementation of Rush’s digital strategy. He and his team — including those in digital transformation, digital and information services, marketing communications, patient access teams and many clinical departments — launched Rush Connect earlier this year, the umbrella for all Rush’s digital-first health offerings.

Casey’s nomination focused on the development of a “unified platform that brings together virtual care services and digital tools to make high-quality care simpler, more convenient and personalized.”

Rush Connect+, a new digital care membership service was also emphasized as “a simple, affordable way to stay on top of health by providing personalized help and care, when and where patients need it. That includes a direct line to a human assistant, available seven days a week by live chat or phone, plus 24/7 virtual urgent care access nationwide.”

The suite of digital-first services is now a part of the My Rush app. Launched in early October, the app creates a care hub on a patient’s smartphone where they can do everything from making appointments and navigating to their visits to checking symptoms and accessing same-day care options through the Rush Connect suite of digital care offerings.
