Tylor Schlader has a deep passion for both tennis and pickleball. The new manager of tennis at Rush Copley Healthplex has nearly 20 years of experience in the racquet sports industry. Most recently, he served as head tennis professional at the Montecito Club in Santa Barbara, California, where he led dynamic programming and player development initiatives.
“I chose this field because I love this sport,” Tylor says. “It’s the healthiest sport in the world!”
A graduate of Wartburg College in Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in fitness management, Tylor was also a collegiate tennis player. He holds certification through the Racquet Sports Professionals Association and is Safe Play approved by the United States Tennis Association.
Tylor is especially passionate about the many health benefits racquet sports provide, along with the strong sense of community and lasting connections they create both on and off the court.
At the Healthplex, Tylor is eager to build upon the strong foundation already in place. His vision includes:
- Growing and enhancing the junior tennis program
- Bringing back junior and adult tournaments
- Increasing overall participation in both tennis and pickleball
- Expanding options for the travel tennis program
- Introducing new programming on outdoor clay courts
- Hosting engaging pickleball socials and tournaments
- Creating fun, inclusive opportunities for all ages and skill levels
“I’m looking forward to growing the junior program, bringing back junior tournaments and expanding participation on both the tennis and pickleball courts,” Tylor says. “We’ll continue building on existing programs while introducing new and exciting opportunities for everyone.”
