In new role, Sutton aims to bridge gap between health care and fitness to improve lives, health of community
Healthplex General Manager Chris Sutton

Christopher Sutton believes taking care of yourself is the first step to improving your health. As the new general manager of Rush Copley Healthplex, his goal is to help people accomplish this and bridge the gap between health care and fitness.

“Everyone is always trying to improve their health, whether physically, emotionally or mentally,” he says. “It's finding the resources or the know-how that can stymie progress.”

By being a wellness resource, he hopes the Healthplex will improve community health and the lives of Rush employees and others. He says, “Once we start improving ourselves, everything else will fall into place.”

He looks forward to leading the Healthplex team in staying ahead of fitness and wellness trends.

Sutton assumed the role of general manager in September. Prior to that, he was a personal trainer at the Healthplex. He holds a master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology and has more than 15 years of experience in medical fitness and management. He received the Educator of the Year Award in 2020 from the Medical Fitness Association.

Before coming to the Healthplex, Sutton worked as a clinical exercise physiologist at Three Point Healthcare in Mokena. He also served as fitness/wellness manager for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and as fitness program manager and medical integration manager for Power Wellness in Lombard.

In his new role, Sutton will lead and manage all aspects of Healthplex operations, including staff, programs, services and the facility. He will be responsible for ensuring the Healthplex provides safe, high quality, member-focused fitness and wellness services.
