Based in Chicago, Rush is a not-for-profit health care, education and research enterprise comprising the following:
- Rush University Medical Center
- Rush University
- Rush Oak Park Hospital
- Rush Health
As an organization, Rush is all about health, with excellence in patient care the focus of all we do.
Rush University Medical Center is an academic medical center in Chicago and the hub of our patient care. The Medical Center is closely connected with Rush University. In fact, all the university’s programs are taught by physicians, nurses and other staff from the Medical Center.
Rush Oak Park Hospital is our community hospital, just seven miles west of our Chicago campus in Oak Park, Ill. Rush Oak Park Hospital offers numerous specialties of care, some of which are provided by specialists from Rush University Medical Center.
Rush University — a university focusing exclusively on the health sciences — shares the Medical Center’s campus. The university is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nation’s top-ranked nursing colleges. It also boasts competitive graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research.
Rush’s practitioner-teacher model gives students the opportunity to learn from world-renowned instructors who practice what they teach. And patients benefit from caregivers who, as teachers, must stay at the top of their game.
Rush also offers many highly selective residency and fellowship programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.
Rush Health is a network of health care providers — primarily hospitals and physicians — whose members work together to improve quality of health care. Rush University Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital and most of the physicians on the hospitals’ medical staffs are members of Rush Health.
Committed to community
In addition to patient care, education and research, Rush maintains a strong commitment to the community. Many students, faculty and staff at Rush generously donate their time and skills both within and outside of the Medical Center.
Their efforts include numerous health outreach projects in which Rush collaborates with neighborhood clinics, churches, schools and other organizations to provide health screenings and vital health education for underserved children and adults.
