Waterford Place can scratch off nearly 40 items from its wish list, thanks to the generosity of the newly formed Lions Club of Carillon at Stonegate in Aurora.

The goal of the service organization is to serve the community, and the club chose Waterford Place as beneficiary of its recent fundraiser.  In addition to the wish list items, the club donated more than $200 in cash to Waterford Place.

The service club, which officially formed in December and already has 22 members, sponsored a Zoom movie fundraiser and charged a fee to watch. Some participants paid in cash; others paid by donating a wish list item.

The group’s goal is to sponsor a service activity each month, and it hopes to grow the relationship with Waterford Place.

“We very much want to support Waterford Place in the future,” says Susan Koepke, president of the Carillon club.

Club members initially selected Waterford Place as a beneficiary because they wanted to support a local cancer nonprofit. In addition to providing support for activities, Koepke says they would like to help raise awareness of the resource center and its many programs.

Omar Ramos, program and administrative support coordinator for Waterford Place, says the generosity of the Carillon Lion’s Club is truly appreciated, especially during these challenging times.

“These gifts help ensure that Waterford Place remains a place where anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis can find services, support and hope,” he says.
