'Rush thrives when everyone knows they can bring their whole self to work.'

As a person who has multiple disabilities, including HIV and hemophilia B, I’m passionate about disability inclusion in employment, which was one thing that drew me to Rush.

Kevin has been on the recruitment team at Rush University Medical Center for just over two years. He brings to Rush more than two decades of experience as an advocate for people with disabilities.

"As a person who has multiple disabilities, including HIV and hemophilia B, I’m passionate about disability inclusion in employment, which was one thing that drew me to Rush," he says.

Kevin says the Medical Center's recognition as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion sends a clear message to all Rush employees with disabilities: "We can’t achieve excellence without their vital contributions."

"For job seekers with disabilities, the Disability Equality Index award serves as a beacon and helps Rush to attract the very best and most qualified candidates," he says.

Among his many activities in behalf of people with disabilities at Rush, Kevin cofounded the Rush Disabilities Employee Resource Group, which promotes disability inclusion in the workplace.

"Rush’s commitment to disability inclusion ensures that we keep the best people on our team when they acquire a disability at any point in their career," he says.

Similarly, Kevin says, Rush’s participation in the Healthcare Equality Index has led to all three Rush University System for Health hospitals being honored for LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leadership.

"Rush thrives," he says, "when everyone knows they can bring their whole self to work."
