How it works

E-Visits at Rush is available to people 18 and older who have visited a Rush provider in the past three years. Follow the steps below to get started:

  • Open up your MyChart account. (If you haven’t signed up for MyChart, free access to your online health record, you’ll need to do that first. Sign up for MyChart here.)

  • Once in your MyChart account, click on “Start an E-Visit” under Quick Links.

  • Fill out a secure online questionnaire including several questions, depending on your condition.

  • Less than an hour later, receive a MyChart message with a diagnosis and treatment plan created by a Rush provider. This plan will include any needed prescriptions, which Rush will send to your pharmacy of choice to be filled.

E-Visits at Rush is not for emergencies. If you have an urgent medical need, call 911 — or visit your nearest emergency department or urgent care facility.

E-Visits at Rush hours

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you complete an E-Visit questionnaire outside these hours, you will receive a response within an hour after E-Visit services at Rush begin again at 8 a.m.

Conditions treated

  • Bladder infection or urinary tract infection
  • Back pain
  • Cold or cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Heartburn
  • Red eye (requires uploaded photo)
  • Sinus pain or pressure
  • Vaginal irritation

If you need treatment for a condition other than these, you can make an appointment with a provider at Rush or visit one of Rush’s walk-in care locations.

Payment

Rush doesn’t bill insurance for e-visits. Your credit, debit or health savings account (HSA) card will be charged $30 after you receive your diagnosis.

If it turns out that we need to see you before we can diagnose your condition, we’ll help you schedule an in-person appointment, and you will not be charged.

Your primary care doctor is on your side to help you meet whatever health goals you set — and to help gently push you toward better health when you need that, too.
Rush provides walk-in care for patients 16 and older who need timely care that does not require a visit to the emergency department. We have multiple locations to serve your acute care needs: in Lincoln Park, in River North and on the Rush campus.
Visit Rush's online physician directory to search for a provider who meets your needs and the needs of your family. The directory provides a range of information to help you choose, including video profiles for many care providers.
