How E-Visits work

E-Visits at Rush are available to anyone 18 and older, whether or not they have seen a doctor at Rush in the past. Get started with your online doctor visit using the following steps:

  • If you’re a new patient to Rush, you must first create a MyChart account. MyChart gives you free access to your online health record. Current Rush patients without MyChart will also need to create an account.

  • Once you have an account, log in to MyChart.

  • In your MyChart account, click on “Start an E-Visit” under Quick Links.

  • Fill out a secure online questionnaire based on your symptoms and medical history.

  • In less than an hour, a Rush provider will send you a MyChart message with a diagnosis and treatment plan. The plan will include any needed online prescriptions, which Rush will send to your pharmacy of choice to be filled.

Virtual visits are not for emergencies. If you have an urgent medical need, call 911 — or visit your nearest emergency department or urgent care facility.

E-Visits at Rush hours

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you complete an online physician visit outside these hours or on certain holidays, you will receive an online diagnosis within an hour after E-Visit services resume the following day.

Payment

To promote safety and wellness in our community, we will submit claims for e-visits directly to your insurance carrier and you will not need to pay an upfront fee for your visit. If we do not have your insurance on file or if you do not currently have coverage, we may follow up with you after your visit. In some instances, copays or co-insurance may apply. The standard patient out of pocket expense for an e-Visit is $30 or less.

Your primary care doctor is on your side to help you meet whatever health goals you set — and to help gently push you toward better health when you need that, too.
Rush provides walk-in care for patients 16 and older who need timely care that does not require a visit to the emergency department. We have multiple locations to serve your acute care needs: in Lincoln Park, in River North and on the Rush campus.
Visit Rush's online physician directory to search for a provider who meets your needs and the needs of your family. The directory provides a range of information to help you choose, including video profiles for many care providers.
