How E-Visits work

E-Visits at Rush are available to anyone 18 and older, whether or not they have seen a doctor at Rush in the past. E-Visits are also offered to kids on a limited basis. Learn more here

Get started with your online doctor visit using the following steps:

  • Create a MyChart account on MyChart or the My Rush app. MyChart gives you free access to your online health record.
  • Once you have an account, log in to MyChart
  • In your MyChart account, click on " E-Visit" under the Find Care menu. On the app, go to Virtual Care, then E-Visits.
  • Fill out a secure online questionnaire based on your symptoms and medical history.
  • In less than an hour, a Rush provider will send you a MyChart message with a diagnosis and treatment plan. The plan will include any needed online prescriptions, which Rush will send to your pharmacy of choice to be filled.

Virtual visits are not for emergencies. If you have an urgent medical need, call 911 — or visit your nearest emergency department or urgent care facility. If you have questions or concerns about your E-Visit, please call (312) 563-0372.

More information about E-Visits

If you complete an online physician visit outside of regular hours or on certain holidays, you will receive a MyChart message with a diagnosis and treatment plan within an hour after E-Visit services resume the following day.

Return to work authorization can only be granted through an on-demand video visit or in-person. E-Visit providers will not be able to authorize return to work notes.

E-Visits can be completed on your computer or the My Rush app from the App Store (iOS) or from Google Play (Android).

If you have more questions about E-Visits, check out our E-Visit FAQs or details about E-Visits at Rush for kids.

Payment

We’ve recently updated our payment process and insurance coverage for E-Visits. Your payment will be determined after your visit based on your care and insurance plan. We may bill you and/or your insurance for the relevant amount after your appointment. You may be charged a copay that you can choose to pay at the time of your visit or later.

Before your virtual visit, be sure to have your insurance card with you. Please note: it is your responsibility to confirm if your virtual visit is covered by your insurance. Here, you can find a list of all insurance plans that Rush participates in.
