Rush Health Chief Medical Officer Garth Walker, MD, MPH, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 40 Under 40 class of national leaders seeking to drive "lasting transformation" in health care.
Modern's Healthcare's 40 Under 40 recognizes leaders in several areas of health care — including hospitals, insurance, digital startups and medical technology — who are "making a difference at their organizations and throughout the industry."
Walker joined Rush Health in 2022 as senior medical director of value-based care and became chief medical officer a year later.
The magazine says his start as an emergency medicine physician has given him a unique vantage point.
“Emergency medicine is the first preview in terms of the ills of society,” Walker said. “If we're not serving a population well, or if they're not getting the care they need, they'll show up in the emergency room.”
In 2024, Walker was named one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ 40 Under 40 young business and civic leaders.
