Rush’s Digestive Diseases team is among the first in the world to host a new clinical trial using Apple Pro Res VR vision goggles to assist doctors in colonoscopies.
Physicians will use a new application designed by Cosmo Pharmaceuticals to visualize AI-generated insights directly through the headset, within their field of view during the procedure. This immersive, hands-free experience is expected to set a new standard in procedural medicine.
“We are thrilled to be the first in the world to bring this technology into the endoscopy suite,” says Irving Waxman, MD, chief of the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition.
“This tool has the potential to revolutionize how we practice by giving us AI-powered insights exactly when and where we need them. This is not just an incremental improvement. It’s a complete reimagining of procedural medicine, and I’m proud that Rush is leading the way.”
This VR technology is the latest AI software tool being brought into the endoscopy suite. The Digestive Diseases team was also among the first in the country to adapt GI Genius. Rush was also a site for the clinical trial that integrated GI Genius into the Apple Pro Res VR.
