Dr. Omar Lateef, president and CEO of Rush University System for Health and Rush University Medical Center, has again been named to Modern Healthcare’s list of 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. The 2025 edition marks the fifth consecutive time he has appeared on the list.
The list highlights “the executives in all corners of the industry who are striving to advance medicine and how care is delivered — and succeeding in doing so.”
Lateef’s nomination spoke to Rush’s growth strategy, health equity and work to close the death gap beyond providing access to care. He is the only leader of a Chicago-based academic medical center to appear on the list in each of the last five years.
Summarizing his inclusion, Modern Healthcare notes Lateef "has made addressing health disparities in Rush’s home city of Chicago a major priority. This year, the organization announced a direct-to-consumer telehealth offering, Rush Connect+. It was one of the first legacy systems to do so in a market crowded with tech and retail companies. Rush in 2025 also opened two outpatient facilities and a comprehensive cancer care center in the Chicago area.”
The complete list can be found in the December issue of Modern Healthcare.
