Lisa Wagamon has been appointed president of RUSH Health, a clinically integrated network of more than 2,300 providers.

Wagamon has extensive experience in both provider and payor contracting, including commercial insurance, exchange HIX, Medicare and Medicaid. Her work has encompassed strategic planning, utilization management, quality, claims operations, call centers, network development and value-based payments models.

As president of RUSH Health, Wagamon will manage Rush University System for Health’s clinically integrated network and accountable care organization. She will be responsible for all payor contracting for RUSH and for developing and managing programs that strengthen the quality initiatives and clinical integration between RUSH Health’s participating members. Additionally, she is charged with leading the development and implementation of RUSH’s outreach strategy.

Wagamon comes to RUSH from Raleigh, North Carolina, where she has been a health care consultant, advising providers, investors and managed care organizations about value-based care, alternative payments, bundled payments, social determinants of care, health disparity and more. Her clients include Recovery Centers of America, Cigna Healthcare and Signify Health.

Wagamon has held leadership positions for organizations including Lee Health in Fort Myers, Florida, SSM Health in St. Louis, Highmark Health in Pittsburgh, the mid-Atlantic region of United Healthcare and others. Her achievements include developing and implementing strategies for adapting to new reimbursement models such as value-based contracting and bundled payments.

Wagamon takes over RUSH Health from Doug O’Brien, who led RUSH Health on an interim basis since last April. O’Brien remains at RUSH in the newly created role of system vice president of corporate and public affairs.
