At Rush, the Division of Interventional Radiology includes the sections of interventional oncology and vascular intervention. Doctors in these programs (interventional radiologists) offer minimally invasive alternatives to surgery for many conditions.
For you, that could mean less time in the hospital and more time at home doing what you enjoy.
Interventional radiologists can treat a wide range of conditions, including the following:
- Vascular problems, such as atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, aortic aneurysms and varicose veins
- Women’s health concerns, such as infertility and uterine fibroids
- Liver diseases, including liver cancer
- Kidney disease
Many of the procedures take place in the interventional platform at Rush’s new hospital, where diagnosis and treatment are centralized to allow specialists to work together.
