Evaluating Evidenced Based Options for PTSD TreatmentNational Clinical Trial Number:
NCT06733376Contact Information
Clinical Trial Protocol Description:
This study is accepting patients at both Rush University Medical Center and Rush Copley Medical Center. Please see contact information below to join the study at one location.
The TREAT Lab at Rush University Medical Center is conducting a research study on the effectiveness of cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD delivered over the course of 2 weeks (10 sessions over 10 days). CPT is a trauma-focused talk therapy based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected. Based on study criteria, you may also be eligible to receive additional sessions of treatment after completing CPT—either more CPT sessions, sessions of Prolonged Exposure (PE), or sessions of Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).
All therapy sessions and study visits are conducted virtually. After completing treatment, you will be asked to complete follow-up surveys asking about general mental health, trauma symptoms, and substance use. Virtual follow-up interviews will also be conducted 1 week after treatment, as well as 1, 3 and 6 months after treatment.
Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria:
In order to participate you must meet the following criteria:
- Are 18 years of age or older.
- Reside in Illinois.
- Have experienced a traumatic event in your lifetime.
- Are interested in receiving 10 therapy sessions over the course of 2 weeks (10 days).
