'What drew me to Rush was the nurses.'
Rush nursing sets the tone for what surrounding hospitals should be striving toward. Being a five-time Magnet-designated hospital draws nurses who are highly motivated, team players who consistently deliver quality care to the patients Rush serves.
What drew Andrea to Rush, she says, was the nurses. "Rush nursing sets the tone for what surrounding hospitals should be striving toward," she says. "Being a five-time Magnet-designated hospital draws nurses who are highly motivated team players who consistently deliver quality care to the patients Rush serves."
Rush truly values professional growth and career advancement, Andrea says: "It's not just offered, it's encouraged." Rush’s full tuition prepayment is allowing her to work full-time as a nurse while pursuing a doctor of nursing practice degree at Rush University College of Nursing. "Without this benefit, I would not be able to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse practitioner," she says.
Andrea also appreciates the role Rush University Medical Center plays in Chicago’s West Side community.
"This neighborhood has been overlooked and underserved for so long, resulting in major health inequities amongst its residents," she says. "Rush partners with its neighbors, local leaders and community organizations to try and minimize health disparities by dismantling barriers to health and promoting healthy equity."
