Allen is a unit clerk who supports several areas within women's and children's services: the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, labor and delivery, the mother-baby unit and general pediatrics.
Allen says one thing that surprises people when he tells them he works at Rush is how genuinely inclusive and caring the community is.

Allen chose to work at Rush, he says, because of how truly inclusive the culture is for people with disabilities and LGBTQ+ employees, "which are my two primary identifications."
Allen adds: "At Rush, you don’t have to hide who you are. You can be who you truly are. You won’t be judged and you won’t be interrogated. You will be accepted."
