I am very proud to share the 2025 Rush University Medical Center Nursing Annual Report. It captures the dedication of our nursing team and the meaningful difference nurses make every day — both within our organization and across the communities we serve. This report reflects not just what we accomplished this year, but who we are as nurses at Rush: leaders, collaborators and compassionate caregivers.
Throughout the year, nurses stepped forward to strengthen professional governance, advance clinical practice and enhance the patient experience. Guided by Magnet principles, nurses used their expertise and authority to lead change, apply evidence-based practices and partner across disciplines. This work reflects a deep, shared commitment to excellence and to continually raising the standard of nursing practice.
The stories within these pages show how that commitment comes to life at the bedside and beyond. Nurses improved discharge education and communication, strengthened patient safety, responded decisively during emergencies, supported survivors through specialized programs and navigated patients through increasingly complex transitions in care. Each example underscores how nursing leadership, teamwork and problem solving directly contribute to better outcomes for our patients and families.
This year’s report also highlights the growing influence of our nurses beyond Rush. By sharing practice improvements, research and innovations at local, regional and national levels, our nurses are shaping broader conversations about quality, safety and patient-centered care. Their willingness to lead and share elevates both the profession and Rush’s reputation for excellence and innovation.
To every nurse whose work is reflected in this report — thank you. Your expertise, dedication and compassion make a difference every day. Because of you, we continue to strengthen patient care, advance nursing practice and positively impact the lives of those we are privileged to serve.
