Your Support Changes Lives
As a nonprofit academic health system, Rush University System for Health reinvests all operational income and every philanthropic gift into our mission to improve health. The advances we make in care, research, education and health equity are only possible with your support. Together as partners, we can deliver what everyone deserves: the healthiest life possible.
Your Gifts in Action
Here are just a few ways Rush puts your gifts to work, changing lives from Aurora to Northwest Indiana and beyond:
- Understanding your risk and identifying disease early
With philanthropic support to establish a personalized breast screening program, 42,000 patients and counting have received assessments of their lifetime risk for cancer — assessments with the potential to catch cancer earlier and save more lives. Learn more in our cancer center donor impact report. - Leading to significant research breakthroughs
Our orthopedic researchers have leveraged philanthropic support to advance their studies and successfully achieve more than $10.6 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health to propel this work. Thanks to you, these studies are making joint replacements longer-lasting and more effective for patients worldwide. Learn more in our bone and joint impact report. - Preparing the next generation of health care leaders
Because of you, last year Rush University awarded more than $12.2 million in scholarships, awards and institutional grants — the highest amount in our history — to students preparing for a heavy responsibility: caring for your health. Your support reduces students’ burden of debt. Learn more in our scholarship impact report. - Improving access to resources in our communities
With your support, Rush University Medical Center is preparing community members to become community health workers, trusted frontline providers who are well-equipped to determine and address their neighbors’ health and social needs. Because of you, our community health workers had more than 5,800 outreach encounters last year, giving residents of our surrounding neighborhoods access to the care and resources we all need to lead our healthiest lives.
