Here are just a few ways Rush puts your gifts to work, changing lives from Aurora to Northwest Indiana and beyond:
- Redesigning cancer care to remove obstacles
With philanthropic support, Rush is tackling the challenges of cancer care to reduce delays and strengthen continuity from diagnosis through survival. In fall 2025, more than 220 women received free mammograms thanks to the Mobile Mammography Clinic. Of these patients, 67% required follow-up imaging and were connected with a navigator to guide them through supplemental screenings, care and support. Our orthopedic researchers have collected more than 10,000 artificial joint implants across four decades to study how they wear down and why they fail. This philanthropically funded research has contributed to the evolution of plastics used in joint replacements, increasing device longevity and improving safety. Thanks to generous donor support, last year Rush University awarded more than $13.4 million in scholarships, awards and institutional grants — the highest amount in our history — to students preparing for a heavy responsibility: caring for your health. With your support, Rush University Medical Center is preparing community members to become community health workers, trusted frontline providers who are well-equipped to determine and address their neighbors’ health and social needs. Because of you, our community health workers had more than 5,800 outreach encounters last year, giving residents of our surrounding neighborhoods access to the care and resources we all need to lead our healthiest lives.
