COVID-19 represents not only a very real health threat but also a very real financial threat. The Rush University COVID-19 Student Relief Fund will give our students the financial safety net they may need to weather this difficult time while continuing their education without interruption.
Because we are solely focused on health sciences, Rush University’s students are embracing not only the challenges of remote learning but also the unique opportunities that come with volunteering and using their emerging skills to support the response where they can.
Your gift to the Rush University COVID-19 Student Relief Fund will provide students in need with one-time grants that will support and protect them during this period of enormous stress and pressure.
Many students are attending Rush on scholarship and with carefully budgeted living expenses covered by loans. Some also face financial pressure, including food and housing insecurity, due to job loss or emergency expenses. While many students who receive financial aid are applying for support from insurance or funds from state or federal agencies, a great need remains to help cover emergency expenses such as:
- Food and utilities
- Temporary housing, moving or storage
- Domestic or international travel to get home to loved ones
- Technology and internet access
- Child care and elder care
Students preparing to enter the health care industry are uniquely valuable at this historic time. With your support, they can stay focused on preparing for the most important job in the world: improving health.
