Clinical Services at Rush Department of Psychiatry
Program Description

Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals in the Department of Psychiatry offer a continuum of care for people with mental illness. Rush offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. Our experts coordinate various inpatient and outpatient programs to help patients through all stages of illness and recovery. Consultation and "second opinion" services regarding diagnoses and treatment options are also available.

Mark H. Pollack, MD, is chairperson of the Department of Psychiatry. The department is staffed by psychiatrists and other mental health professionals who are known throughout Chicago and across the nation for their efforts to treat and study depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and many other forms of psychiatric illness. Marital Counseling and Sex Therapy: The Marital and Sex Therapy Program at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, offers marriage counseling, couples therapy and sex therapy in a supportive atmosphere. Psychologists, resident physicians, and medical specialists work closely to diagnosis and treat sexual problems.

Mood Disorders Inpatient Unit: The mood disorders inpatient unit at Rush is devoted to treating acutely ill adult patients with mood disorders.

Psychiatric Services (Ambulatory): Adult and Child Ambulatory Psychiatric Services at Rush has a diverse staff made up of resident physicians in training, psychiatric nurses, social workers and students. Residents and students work under the supervision of licensed faculty members.

Rush Day Hospital: The Rush Day Hospital (RDH) in Chicago, Illinois, is an intensive group-based program which offers partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP) & group therapy during day & evening hours. RDH programs provide individualized treatment within a dynamic treatment environment.

Section of Psychiatry and Medicine: This program provides compassionate and leading-edge interventions for patients receiving care on nonpsychiatric inpatient units with emotional, neuropsychiatric or cognitive problems that are caused or exacerbated by medical, surgical, neurological, obstetrical or gynecological conditions.
