Professional Voice Program

World-class care for the professional voice

Part of the Voice, Airway and Swallowing Disorders Program at Rush, the Professional Voice Program offers comprehensive, world-class care for singers, actors, teachers, members of the clergy, politicians, public speakers, presenters and others whose careers depend on their voices.

Our professional voice team comprises a fellowship-trained laryngologist and a speech-language pathologist with specialized training in voice disorders and therapy (also called a voice therapist). These experts work together to address the full range of voice disorders and conditions — a multidisciplinary approach that promotes more accurate diagnosis, optimal treatment planning and better outcomes.

We welcome those seeking second opinions after either an initial diagnosis or unsuccessful prior treatment.

Excellence in Professional Voice Care

Same-day emergency appointments

If you have a problem with your voice that needs to be addressed more immediately because of an upcoming performance, audition or appearance, we offer same-day appointments.

Expert evaluation and diagnosis

In addition to the standard physical exam, our experts use examination techniques specifically designed to diagnose voice disorders — such as high-definition (HD) videostroboscopy, and aerodynamic and acoustical analysis — for more accurate diagnosis.

State-of-the-art treatments

Our board certified laryngologist offers advanced technology, including voice-preserving phonomicrosurgery, a highly specialized surgery to improve the voice using microscopic techniques and highly magnified views.

Coordination with other specialists

Our team coordinates care with or referrals to other specialists — including gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, allergists, oncologists and neurologists — as needed, and provides our patients with access to a network of vocal coaches and behavioral medicine specialists
