  • Encephalitis

Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain. Many cases of encephalitis are mild and cause flu-like symptoms; for severe cases, immediate medical attention is needed. Severe encephalitis symptoms include sudden fever, severe headache, confusion, vomiting and seizures.
  • HIV infection is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The virus attacks and gradually destroys the immune system, making it harder for the body to fight infections.
  • Meningitis occurs when the lining of the brain and spinal cord (the “meninges”) is inflamed or infected. There are two main types of meningitis: viral meningitis and bacterial meningitis.
