Division of Hospital Medicine

Rush has taken the necessary steps to ensure it's a safe place for treatment. Learn more.

The Division of Hospital Medicine provides high-quality, evidence-based care only for hospitalized patients.

  • In addition to providing excellent inpatient care, the division promotes a seamless transition from the hospital to outpatient follow up with a primary care physician.
  • Patients admitted to Rush University Medical Center who are either seen in an affiliated internal medicine clinic or who do not have a Rush-affiliated primary care physician will be under the care of a hospitalist physician if admitted to a general medicine service at Rush.
  • Hospitalists provide multidisciplinary care through continuous contact with nursing, pharmacy, case management and social worker staff.
  • The division provides consultation and co-management services for multiple nonmedical services throughout the medical center.
