  • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)

    Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is a procedure to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and the top of the small intestine (called the duodenum). Another name for EGD is upper endoscopy. Doctors use EGD to help diagnose problems such as nausea and vomiting, heartburn, gastrointestinal bleeding, swallowing problems and certain pains (like abdominal or chest pain).
  • A liver transplant is a surgical procedure that replaces a diseased liver with a healthy, donated liver.
  • TIPS Procedure

    TIPS stands for "transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt." This is a procedure that creates new connections between two blood vessels in the liver. Some people with severe liver problems need this procedure. TIPS is not a surgical procedure. It is done by specially trained radiologists called interventional radiologists.
