Tests & Treatments

The following tests and treatments are some of the most common tests and treatments offered by specialists in this area. These specialists offer many other advanced tests and treatments for a wide range of medical problems.   • Botulinum toxin is available as four brands: Botox, Myobloc, Dysport and Xeomin. Each is produced from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When eaten, the toxin causes a serious food poisoning called botulism. But when injected in very small amounts, it can be used safely to treat a number of medical and neurological conditions.
  • Electroencephalogram (EEG)

    Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the brain. It is often referred to as a brain-wave test. An EEG is useful in diagnosing and treating many neurological disorders. An EEG is performed by attaching electrodes to the scalp and recording the brain’s activity.
  • Lumbar Puncture

    Lumbar puncture is a method doctors use to collect spinal fluid for the purpose of diagnosing conditions such as meningitis, multiple sclerosis, cancer or bleeding in the brain. Doctors also use this procedure to reduce pressure caused by excess spinal fluid.
