Referring Physicians: Brain Metastases Care at RUSH MD Anderson

As one of the highest volume brain metastases treatment providers in the region, RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center’s team offers expertise, experience and some of the latest care options to patients. Our brain metastases specialists understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to treating these often-complex tumors. They collaborate with neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, neuro-oncologists and experts in primary cancers on each patient’s case to offer custom care plans.

They also use advanced diagnostic tools to accurately identify, image and direct therapy at tumors while minimizing effects on surrounding healthy brain tissue. They rely on genetic testing to analyze cancer cells and understand which treatments will prove effective. Our radiosurgery experts specialize exclusively in brain metastases and brain tumors. They have also worked with radiologists to create MRI protocols that allow them to better plan treatments, which improves workflow and helps patients move through the planning process quickly.

Along with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy, RUSH MD Anderson offers cutting-edge treatments, often before they become widely available. We’re the first medical center in Chicago to offer GammaTile therapy. This fairly new treatment can delay or prevent recurrence by delivering radiation intracranially to the site of surgical resection. We also offer eligible patients access to many clinical trials for promising new therapies.

Who Are Ideal Candidates for Brain Metastases Care at RUSH MD Anderson?

Patients with brain metastases, including those with complex, difficult-to-treat tumors and those who’ve been told they have limited or no options for treatment, will find expert care and second opinions at RUSH MD Anderson. Our advanced diagnostic imaging and genetic testing allow our highly experienced specialists to help patients explore all available treatments, even those who’ve had unsuccessful treatment in the past or have recurring tumors.
