RUSH University Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital

Qualifying for financial assistance

Our financial counselors or customer service representatives are available to perform a financial assessment to determine which one of the following programs is the best fit for you. We will help you navigate the application and supporting documentation requirements, if required, and review the eligibility requirements.

  • Financial assistance/full write-off: Your bill can be discounted up to 100% if your income is 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (family size-adjusted)
  • Uninsured patient discount: RUSH University Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital offer Illinois residents a 50% to 80% discount to all uninsured patients depending on family income. Both hospitals also offer a 50% discount to all uninsured, out-of-state residents.
  • Non-covered discount: RUSH University Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital offer a 50% discount if your insurance does not cover the medical services provided. Deductibles, co-insurances and co-pays do not qualify for the non-covered discount.
  • Payment plans: Payment plans can be set up directly in MyChart. If preferred, you can also work with our financial counselors or customer service representatives to determine an appropriate interest-free monthly payment plan that works for your financial situation.
  • Presumptive charity care: RUSH University Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital cover some of your medical costs if you are already a patient at RUSH and your family income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. This program is for patients who are uninsured. We will determine your eligibility for each episode of care. Please refer to the Financial Assistance Policy for eligibility criteria for this program.
  • Catastrophic Balance Program: RUSH University Medical Center and RUSH Oak Park Hospital can discount your bill to a maximum of 20% of your household income on an episodic basis, during a rolling twelve-month period.
