About Rush Nursing

What is a Rush nurse?

At the core of the Rush nursing Professional Practice Model are relationships, caring and leadership. The Rush nurse provides compassionate holistic care while serving as a leader and advocate to ensure patient needs are met.

This combination of empathy and leadership creates an environment that encourages autonomy and innovation where evidence-based care is delivered to every patient. The relationship and caring connection developed between the patient and the nurse is a critical element of the healing process.

Another Luther Christman legacy at Rush is its shared governance model. The model has been an active and important element of nursing at Rush since 1993. It provides clinical nurses with a voice in determining elements of the work environment, professional practice, standards of care and quality outcomes.

Rush nurses are also committed to the diverse community we serve and extend themselves into the community to support health promotion and disease prevention.

The Magnet designation by the ANCC is recognition of the excellence in nursing at Rush and the quality of care delivered to our patients, every day.

The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding work nurses do for patients and families every day. To nominate a Rush nurse for a DAISY Award, please contact us at
