Anne Taylor swam and played tennis until, in her late 20s, a rare autoimmune disease started attacking her joints. For eight years, she walked on a broken pelvis and rarely left the house. That all changed after she was referred to Craig Della Valle, MD, with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. Three years after Della Valle performed her surgery, Anne was running 5Ks and traveling to Europe and Mexico.
Anne's father, Dale Taylor, and his wife, Angela Lustig, were so touched by Della Valle’s efforts that they made a major gift in his honor, so he can continue his orthopedic research and help others, just as he helped Anne.
“Here’s a guy who has done something that the other leading institutions said couldn’t be done,” Dale said.
