Dr. Simon Lee (pictured right) helped me to walk again. Before he treated me, I could walk less than 100 yards; the pain was unbearable. One of my grandsons asked me, “Will you ever be able to run and catch me again?” Now, thanks to Dr. Lee and his team at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, the answer is yes.
My wife and I moved to Chicago in 2002 to be near our children and their families. Shortly after, I began to experience severe pain in my feet and ankles. At another hospital, I underwent two surgeries that brought little relief. My surgeon said nothing more could be done; I knew I needed a second opinion.
At my first visit to Rush, Dr. Simon Lee entered the room with a smile, and I left with a great sense of relief. Dr. Lee is personable and thorough. He not only fixed my feet and ankles, but also pinpointed the underlying neurological disorder that was causing the damage.
My wife and I give to Rush to honor Dr. Lee and show our gratitude for the difference Rush has made in our lives. I don’t know where we would be without compassionate physicians like Dr. Lee who dedicate so much of their own lives to improving the lives of their patients.
Thanks in part to philanthropic support and the dedication of doctors and scientists at Rush, I can play with my grandchildren again, and progress is being made toward curing my hereditary disease for their generation.
