The partnership between Swim Across America Chicago and Rush University Medical Center to support cancer research grew even more in 2014.
SAA is a national organization that raises money nationwide through swimming events in support of local cancer research facilities. Since 2012, Swim Across America has directed its proceeds to the Rush University Cancer Center.
Despite cooler weather for the 2014 swim, 250 swimmers and 90 volunteers came out to support Rush. In all, 26 teams raised valuable funds in support of clinical cancer research at Rush, bringing the total contributions to Rush since 2012 to $825,000.
Here are the top five team fundraisers for 2014:
- Team Life: $25,344
- Team Anne, Mike & Friends: $22,288
- Team Chapa: $20,745
- Open Water on Lee (OWOL) - $20,732
- Rush University Medical Center & Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush: $19,998
