700,000 Under Par: Golf Outing Benefits Rush Students

The Eighth Annual Rush University Golf Outing was held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park, Ill. This year, 200 golfers hit the links to raise more than $132,000 in support of Rush’s students — a 23 percent increase over last year’s proceeds.

In the face of rising costs for higher education, the golf outing plays a vital role in allowing Rush University to offer more awards to students, reduce students’ financial burden and attract a diverse student population.

Because of the enthusiasm of faculty leaders and administrators across the institution, the outing has more than quadrupled its revenue in a relatively short period of time. Since the golf outing began in 2007, this event has raised more than $700,000 in vital scholarship support benefitting students in all four colleges of Rush University. None of this would be possible without the generosity of the event’s sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers.
