In 2016 the medical staff of Rush University Medical Center set out to directly help Rush medical students with the burdensome cost of earning an education. Through their first-ever Med Staff for Med Students campaign, they changed the lives of seven Rush Medical College students with half-year tuition scholarships.
Now, let’s make an even bigger difference for our aspiring physicians.
Medical staff, help your colleagues reach this year’s goal of $200,000, with 100 percent of your gift helping to provide scholarships for eight medical students during the 2017-'18 academic year. And join this year's donors to support the largest enrollment Rush Medical College has ever seen.
Here are the lead donors from the 2016 effort:
- Affiliated Radiologists, SC
- Dr. and Mrs. Robert P. DeCresce
- Dr. and Mrs. Larry Goodman
- University Anesthesiologists, SC
- University Pathology Diagnostics, SC
How students' lives have changed
Each student who received the 2016 scholarship is already benefiting from the funding.
Second-year student Andrew Dahl said the financial support motivated him to work even harder in his studies. For fourth-year student Lisa Blankenship, the scholarship is allowing her to better focus on her efforts knowing that her debt was reduced.
“Financial aid is the only reason I’m able to attend Rush,” said second-year student Kyle Kunze (shown above, center). “This scholarship will allow me to continue my medical education and my pursuit to become the compassionate and skilled physician that first made me want to become a surgeon.”
Contributions will not just change the lives of the students but also every person these future medical professionals help throughout their careers. You are investing in the future of medicine.
