Clinical Trial Protocol Description: 

This study will assess the safety and efficacy of giving multiple doses of stem cell therapy by direct injection to patients with advanced peripheral arterial disease and a non-healing wound on their foot who are already planning to undergo a revascularization procedure. Eligible patients will be randomly assigned to one of two different dosing groups of stem cell therapy or placebo. One hundred and twenty patients will be recruited nationally, and Rush University Medical Center expects to enroll approximately six patients.

Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria: 

In order to participate you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a current diagnosis of advanced peripheral arterial disease.
  • Have an ulceration (wound) with tissue loss on your foot.
  • Be undergoing or considering a planned revascularization procedure on the same leg as your non-healing foot wound.
