ION: Study of social skills groups for children with autism spectrum disorder.

Study Protocol Description:

We want to help identify creative and lasting ways to teach social skills. The purpose of the ION study is to evaluate two types of social skills group therapies for children with autism. Participation involves 12 weeks of social skills group therapy, plus follow-up study visits one and three months after the final group. Families will receive a comprehensive evaluation and compensation for time spent on study activities. There is no cost to participate.

Study Eligibility Criteria:

Your child could be eligible to participate if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are 8 to 11 years of age.
  • Have an established or strongly suspected autism diagnosis.
  • Use fluent speech to communicate.
  • Speak and understand English.
