Home Environment Comparison Study

Clinical Trial Title:
Home environment comparison study
Clinical Trial Protocol ID:
11122006
Clinical Trial Investigator Name:
Bradley Appelhans, PhD
Clinical Trial Protocol Description:

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the home environment in children’s healthy eating habits and activity levels. The study focuses on children ages 6-13 who live in low- and lower middle-income households. The study involves completing surveys about your family’s food shopping and cooking habits. Your child’s physical activity level will be measured for seven days using a small electronic device similar to a wristwatch. Researchers will come to your home at a time that is convenient for you – there is no need to travel to Rush. At Rush University Medical Center we expect to recruit approximately 96 households for this study.

In order to participate you must meet the following criteria:

  • Care for a child age 6 through 13.
  • Live in a low-income or lower middle-income household.
  • Live in the city of Chicago.
