Effect of Diet and Exercise on Ovarian Cancer Survivors
The goal of the study is to determine if lifestyle can influence survival and quality of life of ovarian cancer survivors. Eligible patients who have completed first line chemotherapy treatment and are considered in remission will be asked to wear a pedometer, complete questionnaires regarding their lifestyle, and to provide blood samples every 6 months for 2 years. The patients will be randomized to one of two groups: 1) control group that will not receive any additional lifestyle coaching or 2) intervention group that will receive lifestyle coaching regarding diet and exercise.
In order to participate you must meet the following criteria:
- Be an ovarian, fallopian tube and/or primary peritoneal cancer survivor with a history of stage II-IV cancer.
- Have completed consolidation treatment within the past 6 weeks to 4 months.
- Be 18 years old with no clinical evidence of persistent or recurrent disease or any other chronic illness.
- Be willing to fill out study questionnaires and be able to be contacted repeatedly by telephone over the course of the study.
