Transport specimen to the laboratory within 2 hours of collection. Analysis should be made within 4 hours of collection. Refrigerate specimen if delivery cannot be made within 2 hours. Refrigeration may cause a change in pH and the formation of crystals in specimens.
Specific gravity: 1.002-1.030; pH: 5-8; protein: <20 mg/dL; bilirubin: negative; urobilinogen: 0.2-1 EU/dL glucose: negative; ketones: negative; occult blood: negative; RBCs: 0-4/hpf; WBCs: 0-4/hpf, bacteria: negative on spun specimen; casts: 0-4 hyaline casts/lpf. Warm, freshly voided urine sediment from normal subjects almost never contains crystals, despite maximal concentration. </body/>
