| Rush University Medical Center is offering a free community event, “Advances in Prostate Cancer Treatment,” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. The program will be held on the Rush campus in room 994 at the Armour Academic Center located at 600 S. Paulina, Chicago.
Dr. Christopher Coogan and Dr. Kaylan Latchamsetty, both urologists at Rush, will discuss the latest health information regarding prostate cancer. Topics include the DaVinci Surgical System, a robotic surgery system with 3-D high definition (HD) to treat prostate cancer. Other exciting new treatments to be discussed include TomoTherapy, which uses computed tomography (CT) to scan for the most current location of the tumor and treats that spot only, protecting healthy tissue that surrounds it.
Because space is limited, registration is required. Please call (888) 352-RUSH or (888) 352-7874 to register for the program or for more information.
Refreshments will be offered and free parking is available in the Rush parking garage accessed on Harrison Street.
The Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Clinic at Rush University Medical Center is a multidisciplinary group of physicians that offers men with prostate cancer access to advanced treatment options and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Patients meet with an urologist, a medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist in a single visit. This initial appointment provides patients a comprehensive consultation aimed at educating them and determining the best options in radiation, systemic treatment and surgery — with the ultimate goal of minimizing side effects.
