| | | Pam Smith, M.Ad.Ed. | | Pam Smith, M.Ad.Ed., is education coordinator for the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Working with family members, caregivers and study participants, she is responsible for developing seminars and other educational materials for the clinic and the Memory & Aging Project. She is also the coordinator of the Retirement Home ASSIST Network, which provides education and support to the staff providing care to the senior population. In addition, Pam co-facilitates the Without Warning Support Group which is for individuals with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Pam has presented at many community events as well as several national conferences. Pam earned her master’s degree in adult education at National Louis University in Wheaton, Ill., a bachelor’s degree in human services from Judson College in Elgin, Ill., as well as an associate’s degree in gerontology.
Her public service career includes experience in acute care, home health and hospice. She formerly served as dementia care coordinator at a continuing care retirement center (CCRC) before managing a special care center at a local assisted-living community.
Smith is a current member of the Gerontological Society of Aging and the American Society on Aging as well as the Alzheimer's Association Professional Training Institute Advisory Council. Smith currently serves as a State Delegate for the State of Illinois Continuity of Care Executive Council. She has served on the Governor’s Dementia Care Summit, the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Illinois Chapter Community Programs and Services Committee, a volunteer ombudsman in Kane County and a support group leader for the Greater Illinois Alzheimer’s Association.
