Danielle Mele Arends, RN, APN/CNP
Danielle Mele Arends, MSN, RN, CNP, is a certified gerontological nurse practitioner. She received her master’s degree in gerontological nursing and completed requirements for her nurse practitioner certification from Rush University. She is certified as a nurse practitioner (CNP) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Mele Arends has over 10 years of experience working with older adults.
In collaboration with RADC physicians, she provides comprehensive follow-up care for patients with dementia and their families. In addition, she serves as the study coordinator for several research trials, including a phase I study to assess the safety and tolerability of surgically injected nerve growth factor (gene transfer therapy) in persons with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. She is also coordinator of the AAB-001-201 trial. She has experience working with older adults in a variety of settings, including hospital, home care, wellness and outpatient. Mele Arends has experience leading educational support groups for families and has spoken for many family and professional groups in the Chicagoland area. She is currently a facilitator and program developer for Without Warning™, an educational support program tailored for individuals with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
She is a member of the Chicago Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses and a member of the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners.
