Benedict Gierl, MD
Benedict Gierl, MD, is a geropsychiatrist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Gierl received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1974. He earned his MD degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1978. Dr. Gierl completed his residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Virginia from 1979-1982. From 1984-1989 Dr. Gierl was director of the Geropsychiatric Research Program at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute in Chicago. Dr. Gierl was board certified in psychiatry in 1985. Dr. Gierl’s key interest is the treatment of behavioral disturbances associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
