Expertise. For early detection of breast cancer, regular screening mammograms for women over the age of 40 still remain the best option. But research shows that where you get your mammogram also makes a difference. At Rush, dedicated radiologists specialize in breast imaging. Research shows that a mammogram is only as good as the radiologist who analyzes or “reads” it. That’s why the Rush Breast Imaging Center is staffed by radiologists who specialize in breast imaging.
Excellence. Rush University Medical Center’s Breast Imaging Center has been designated a breast imaging center of excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The designation shows that the Rush Breast Imaging Center meets the highest standards of the radiology profession. A center of excellence designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that have demonstrated excellence in breast imaging by achieving accreditation in mammography, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.
Convenience. Ask your physician for a referral, or call (312) 942-2027 for an appointment. You may not need a referral for a screening mammogram; check with your insurance provider.
Responsiveness. Your primary care physician is key to your health. Our goal is to contact him or her with the results of your screening mammogram within a few days. Results of diagnostic mammograms are reported immediately after the procedure by a physician specialist.
Care. Few mammography centers anywhere offer the skill and caring manner of the mammography technologists at Rush. Our mammography technologists make every effort to minimize your discomfort and inconvenience. They make every effort to ensure an accurate X-ray on the first attempt.
