Clinical Services at Rush Breast Imaging Center
Program Description

The Breast Imaging Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, was designed around women's needs. From the relaxed decor in the waiting room to the spacious private lockers, our facility is designed to put women at ease.

The Rush Breast Imaging Center is also set apart by its ...

Convenience. Ask your physician for a referral, or call (312) 942-2027 for an appointment. You may not need a referral for a screening mammogram; check with your insurance provider. We do need a physician order for all diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, breast MRIs and interventional breast procedures.

Expertise. For early detection of breast cancer, regular screening mammograms for women over the age of 40 still remain the best option. But research shows that where you get your mammogram also makes a difference. Research shows that a mammogram is only as good as the radiologist who analyzes or reads it. That's why the Rush Breast Imaging Center is staffed by radiologists who specialize in breast imaging.

Excellence. Rush University Medical Center's Breast Imaging Center has been designated a breast imaging center of excellence by the American College of Radiology. A center of excellence designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that have demonstrated excellence in breast imaging by achieving accreditation in mammography, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.

Responsiveness. Your primary care physician is key to your health. Our goal is to contact him or her with the results of your screening mammogram within a few days. Results of diagnostic mammograms are reported immediately after the procedure by a physician specialist.

Care. Our mammography technologists make every effort to minimize your discomfort and inconvenience. They make every effort to ensure an accurate X-ray on the first attempt.

Clinical Team

The breast imaging team includes:

Board-certified radiologists who specialize in breast imaging. A mammogram is one of the most difficult X-rays to read. Breast tumors can appear in a number of forms and are often hard to detect among the normal dark and light areas of a mammogram. The accuracy of a mammogram ultimately comes down to the interpretative expertise of the radiologist who reads it. Learn more about the breast imaging center physicians:

Caring, experienced technologists. All of our technologists are mammography certified by ARRT, the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
