The Section of Pediatric Neurology treats a wide range of diseases from learning and behavior disorders to those requiring critical care. We provide medical care for children with meningitis, encephalitis, epilepsy, brain tumors, central nervous system infections, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, neuropathies, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, central nervous system malformations, neurocutaneous disorders and attention deficit disorder.
The Section of Pediatric Neurology at Rush is staffed by experts in the field. We work closely with other specialists at Rush to provide the most advanced care for children with neurological illnesses. We coordinate pediatric nurse-supervised sedation for CT and MRI scanning with our neuroradiologists, who provide a full range of radiologic imaging of the nervous system for our young patients. In addition, because of the strong connection between the brain and behavior disorders, a team of child psychiatrists, psychologists and behavioral pediatricians is also available to work with patients and their families, as necessary.
