Program Description University Pediatrics is a group practice made up of board-certified pediatricians, all of whom are part of the teaching faculty at Rush Medical College. Many of our faculty members are involved in clinical research covering such topics as breast-feeding, resident training, immunization refusal, postpartum depression and pediatric homelessness. In addition to outpatient clinic responsibilities, our pediatricians spend a significant amount of time in other areas of the Medical Center including the inpatient unit and the general care nursery.
The Pediatric Care Group is a group of physicians receiving training in Pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center who care for a select group of patients under the direction of an experienced pediatrician.
Both clinics share the same location at the Rush Pediatric Primary Care Center.
Services Provided
The pediatric primary care clinics at Rush offer many facets of primary care, including infant care, child and adolescent care, immunizations, school physicals and sick visits. Each day, an acute care clinic is in full operation in the morning and afternoon hours to accommodate sick children or children requiring immediate care. In the acute care clinic, children are seen by pediatric residents who are supervised by one of the attending faculty members of the University Pediatrics group.
The Rush Pediatric Primary Care Center has become a participant in the national “ Reach Out and Read” program. This program promotes literacy in children by giving each child a new book at each well-child visit between 6 months and 5 years of age. This allows each family to build a small library of books that are age-appropriate for their child and encourages parents to read to their children EVERY DAY!
